UO Redux Server Hardware
Based on our player and item growth rate I foresee that we can outgrow the existing hardware within the next year. For this reason I have decided to start testing a new server that is far more powerful and upgradable.
The New Server

- Intel S5000PSL Motherboard that can house up to 2 Intel Xeon processors and up to 32 GB of Ram.
- Single Intel Xeon 5050 processor (3 GHz dual core Hyper-threaded 64 bit)
- Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (x64) Service Pack 1
- 8 GB Ram 667MHz 240-pin Fully Buffered DIMM Dual Rank
- 2 Seagate 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 SATA III w/ 16MB Cache mirrored (Raid 2) able to withstand the failure of 1 of 2 drives without data loss.
This setup will allow me to make some additional upgrades in the future in the event that the new hardware proves to be underpowered. For example I can easily swap out the existing memory and upgrade to 32 GB of Ram, increasing the available memory 4 times. I can also install a second Intel Xeon Processor doubling the processing power of the server.
As you may have guessed running a free Ultima Online Server is not cheap. Not only is there an initial hardware investment but also the constant internet and bandwidth cost. For this reason I appreciate any financial donation you can make to UO Redux. Even a $5 donation helps.
